What is success?

We all dream of success but how many of us really achieve it?

A lot of people confuse the word dream with vision. You may have heard people say things like, “I’ve always dreamed of going to…” or “I just met the man/woman of my dreams…” That’s all well and good but those are often one off, fairy tale incidences. Dreams happen in our sleep. Vision is an ongoing realisation of our ideas.

As stated in my new book The Path To Success a dream is described as a series of images that occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. So to put it bluntly, in order to have a dream life we’d have to be totally unconscious and sleep through it.

I don’t know about you but dreaming your way through life is not my idea of success. Of course, all ideas start as a thought which can take shape in a dream but once we have the idea we have to bring it into the conscious world if we want it to manifest in our lives. In other words, you need to be wide awake in your dream to make it a reality. All of our senses need to be involved; the very air you breathe needs to be filled with knowing that success is already yours before it has arrived. That is what we call vision. That’s how the successful become successful. That’s how the successful remain successful.

You may not feel that you are as successful as others right now but you can start right where you are. As the great leader Martin Luther King Jr once said, ‘You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step’

What steps can you take today to bring you closer to success?
