Attitude of Gratitude

With summer edging its way into higher temperatures, exam season nearly over and vacation time just around the corner, there is so much to be grateful for. Do we really give ourselves enough time to appreciate the people, situations and things in our lives? For that matter, when was the last time we stopped to realise just how much others appreciate us?

Being in a state of appreciation is both mentally and physically beneficial. By focussing on your gratitude you will be able to effortlessly relieve stress and tension in the body. You will be able to open your mind to new perspectives and solutions to old issues as well as giving you all round happiness.

An easy way to make gratitude a regular part of your daily routine is to allow yourself to mentally run through all the things you are grateful for before getting out of bed each morning. Think of five things that truly warm your heart and the reasons why they are so dear to you. Again, focussing on the positive will remind you that your efforts are not wasted. Your efforts are well placed and inching their way to success.

Another way to practice your attitude of gratitude is to use a journal. Take a few minutes a day to jot down the things you are grateful for or things that you are expecting to happen during the day that will bring you joy. It doesn’t have to be pages long. A few short sentences will do the trick.

Keep this up for 10 days and watch your mood, attitude, happiness and health increase.
