Paying it forward – James Brindley School

Giving back and paying it forward is at the core of OVP Coaching‘s work in education. So, when we were given the opportunity to visit the James Brindley school at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, we were only too happy to attend.

From the bears at the entrance, through the skylights in the corridors to the magnificent chapel in the centre, the hospitals atmosphere was so welcoming. The parents, children and visitors like us were happy to be there. Everyone we encountered was very positive about their experience at the hospital.

Founder of OVP Coaching, Olive Pellington was able to meet some of the most inspiring, courageous and enterprising of students. She presented them with a personally signed copy of The Path To Success. The students spoke with her about a range of things; from career aspirations to confidence issues their personal interest in the book was inspiring.

Each student gained from our visit but OVP Coaching learned a lot whilst visiting students on many of the wards including the oncology and stem cell transplant wards. The importance given to ensuring the students do not miss out on their education is nothing short of amazing. The students are keen to continue their studies and have a great relationship with their hospital teachers and care staff. Parents and students are well looked after at the hospital and our visit was an added bonus to the great work that is already being done.

We would like to say a big thank you to Shirley Harris, Jayne Ruisi and Tracey Deathridge for making this visit possible. We wish all the students at James Brindley school all the success.
