Are Mental Health Issues on the Increase?

Is the health and well being of youngsters an important issue? Princess Kate Middleton seems to think so.

Now patron of the charity Place2Be the princess is bringing the awareness of mental health concerns to the public. Her passion for helping vulnerable children urges the nation to be more open about the matter and encourages families and individuals to be more open to discussing mental health issues to drive away the stigma which is often attached to those suffering from varying degrees of the condition.

She says…”A child’s mental health is just as important as their physical health and deserves the same quality of support”

This statement supports the views of many education and social care personnel who have seen the devastating effects of children who have not been given the support they need. These children often become more likely to fit into the stereotypical statistics. To avoid this Kate feels that this issue should be treated with the same importance as any medical complaint.

She goes on to say “No one would feel embarrassed about seeking help for a child if they broke their arm; and we really should be equally ready to support a child coping with emotional difficulties.”

Both Kate and her husband William believe that early intervention would be of great benefit to children suffering with mental illness.

At OVP Coaching we have worked with children of all ages who are suffering with or showing early sign of mental illness. In some cases it may start of as worry or overwhelm and if not dealt with can lead to anxiety, self-harming, binge drinking and addiction. We have been fortunate enough to work with many children across the country and coached them through their difficulties.  Assisting them to formulate a plan and equip them with the tools they need to cope in any situation gives them a new outlook on life. It also inspires them to become all they can be and motivates them to continue along the path that leads them away from the insular world they once felt trapped in.

Here are just a few things our OVP Coaching students have had to say about us;

“Because of coaching I am doing well and my grades are going up” – C. Gordon  Yr11

“If it wasn’t for our sessions I wouldn’t be in school now. Thank you” – H. Talliwall Yr11

“Thank you for helping me manage my stress” – S. N. G – Year 10

“Coaching helped me get back on track and I feel ready to go it alone now” – J. H Yr10
